Appliqué is straight forward in name as it is the application of one textile to another. It is a dynamic practice that begins in ancient Egypt where it was utilized in the making of ceremonial garments and flags. African countries have been creating appliquéd textile works for sacred traditional banners and to communicate across tribes, establishing symbols for community.

There are many ways to appliqué and many uses for each method, merging art with utility. In this workshop, you will learn three approachable methods of hand appliqué work and leave with a new skill that will apply to mending, quilting, and creating in a special way. Feel free to bring anything that needs mending or a special, personal touch.
